DINOC Installation Supports Hotel Sustainability Practices

Many hotels are concerned with more offering green, sustainable operations, including encouraging guests to reuse towels and reducing plastic products. Installing 3M™ DI-NOC™ Architectural Finishes means less waste and greater sustainability during a hotel décor refurbishment.

How One Hotel Saved Money with DI-NOC

Hilton Minneapolis saved money and renovated the hotel décor of its rooms using 3M™ DI-NOC™ Finishes. The entire hotel got a whole new look without taking on the cost of real mahogany wood.

According to a 3M case study, the hotel wanted to give its facility an updated look, including changing the appearance of its doors. For full door replacement, hotel management had projected the cost to be about $1,000 per door, including hardware. Instead, hotel management opted to install DI-NOC at cost of approximately $500 per door. After the renovation was complete, the Hilton Minneapolis saved more than $1 million on the entire project.

In Elainne Halbersbarg’s 2014 article in Interiors & Sources magazine, Getty’s Principal Michael Maurer, AIA, who worked on the Hilton project, was quoted as saying of the installed DI-NOC: “They really bring a level of luxury or richness. It’s a dark stain with a very consistent and fine grain, so it adds an element of luxury to the room that is very much in keeping with Hilton’s desire to provide that upscale experience for their guests…”
